چکیده

Z. Naturforsch. 54 a, 411-416 (1999); received April 19, 1999 The effects of collisions with neutral atoms on the hydromagnetic stability of the plane interface separating two streaming superposed composite plasmas of uniform densities in a porous medium are investigated. In the absence of fluid velocities, it is found, for a potentially stable configuration, that the system remains stable, while for a potentially unstable configuraion, the unstable system becomes stable under a certain condition of the wavenumber depending on the values of the fluid densities, Alfven velocities, and the orientation of the magnetic field. The porosity of the porous medium does not have any significant effect on the stability criterion. In the presence of fluid velocities, it is found that, the instability criterion is independent of the permeability of the medium and the collision effects with neutral particles. The criterion determing the stability does not depend on the permeability of the medium but depends on the density of neutral particles. The porosity of the medium is found to have a significant effect on both the stability and instability criteria in this case. The role of the permeability of the medium, the collisional frequency, and the porosity of the porous medium on the growth rate of the unstable mode is examined analitically. Routh's test of stability is applied to confirm the above results. PACS: 47.20.-k; 47.55.Mh; 47.65.+a; 52.30.-q; 52.35.-g.

Hydromagnetic Instability of Stratified Rivlin-Ericksen Fluid in Porous Medium in the Presence of Suspended Particles

The stability of stratified Rivlin-Ericksen fluid in porous medium in the presence of suspended particles and magnetic field has been investigated. Upon application of normal mode technique, the dispersion relation was obtained. The important results obtained in this paper include the instability of non-oscillatory modes and the stability of oscillatory modes. Also, it was found that the system...

Formulation Of The Problem Of Instability Of Streaming Walters’ Fluids In A Porous Medium

The instability of the plane interface separating the two uniforms, superposed, electrically conducting and counter streaming elastico-viscous fluids through a porous medium is examined for visco-elastic polymer solutions in the presence of a horizontal magnetic field and also in the presence and absence of surface tension. These solutions are known as Walters’ (model B  ) fluiare approximated...

Hydromagnetic Instability of Streaming Viscoelastic Fluids Through Porous Media

The hydromagnetic instability of the plane interface between two uniform, superposed and streaming Rivlin-Ericksen viscoelastic fluids through porous medium is considered. The case of two uniform streaming fluids separated by a horizontal boundary is studied. It is observed, for the special case where perturbations in the direction and transverse direction of streaming are ignored, that the sys...

Modulational instability of dust ion acoustic waves in astrophysical dusty plasmas with non thermal electrons

Propagation of dust ion acoustic waves in plasmas composed of nonthermal distributed electrons and stationary dust particles is investigated. Nonlinear Schrdinger equation is derived to describe small amplitude waves, using the reduction perturbation technique. Modulation instability of dust ion acoustic waves is analysed for this system. Parametric investigation indicates that growth rate of...

Perturbation Solutions for the Study of MHD Blood as a Third Grade Nanofluid Transporting Gold Nanoparticles through a Porous Channel

In this paper, the flow, thermal and concentration analyses of blood as a third grade with gold as nanoparticles through a porous channel are carried out using regular perturbation method. The analysis are carried out using Vogel’s model of temperature-dependent viscosity. The developed models were used to investigate the effects of the nano particles on the concentration, temperature and veloc...
